St. Petersburg Bowl Set for Dec. 26 Kickoff

ACC Returns in 2016 to Play American Athletic Conference 

PETERSBURG, Fla. (May 4, 2016) – The 2016 St. Petersburg Bowl will match up the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) against the American Athletic Conference on Monday, December 26, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. ET. The game, which is owned and operated by ESPN Events, a division of ESPN, will air nationally televised on ESPN.

This year’s game will mark the second time the St. Petersburg Bowl is in the ACC bowl rotation. NC State defeated UCF 34-27 in the 2014 edition of the game. The American will have a representative returning for the third consecutive year.

“The first time we matched teams from these conferences in 2014 we had a terrific game that went down to the last possession,” said Brett Dulaney, St. Petersburg Bowl executive director. “Both conferences have excellent depth and we look forward to having the opportunity to host school’s from these two well-respected conferences.”

Tickets for the 2016 St. Petersburg Bowl will go on sale later this year and will be available through Ticketmaster or by phone at 1-800-745-3000.
