Bay Pines VA Hospital Visit

Quotes:

On the VA Hospital Visit

ECU QB Shane Carden

“It was fun to meet people who have served our country. These people have given our country so much and I’m honored to meet with them. They are all friendly and we are very grateful to be out here.”

ECU Cheerleader Sally Thornton “I loved coming out here and meeting the people that served our country. It’s been by best bowl experience so far.”

Ohio QB Tyler Tettleton “It means a lot to see the veterans who served our country and for us to give back. It’s a very humbling experience and I’m grateful to be here. I didn’t know what to expect, but everyone is high in energy and full of spirit.”

Ohio TB Beau Blankenship “We’ve visited kids in the past, but this awesome. The vets have some great stories and I am so glad I got to meet them.”

Kickoff Luncheon Quotes:

Dewey Bozella Kickoff Luncheon Speaker ESPY Arthur Ashe Courage Award Winner On his life experience "I'm happy to have the opportunity to talk to these students and let them know their greatest gift is youth. I want to share to the students that they have the final decision. In life you make the final decision, do something with yourself. If I can do it then what excuse do you have? At the end of the day your decisions fall back on you, no one else."

Honorary Chairman Mike Alstott On the bowl "I'll be at the game tomorrow. Football is my life, I enjoy being able to be a part of something so special and bringing the community together. I want the student-athletes to know football is important but you can also learn life lessons."

ECU Head Coach Ruffin McNeill On Dewey Bozella "He's inspirational, what I like about him is he'll talk to them, not at them. This has been a first-class bowl. We're all anxious to get the game going. The team and staff have handled the transition well. I was asked what I want for Christmas and this is it, I'm here with 125 of my sons."

On Ohio Head Coach Frank Solich

"I have great respect for Coach Solich, even with our running competition."

Ohio Head Coach Frank Solich On ECU "They're a strong team, they play hard and physical. We're going to take care of the ball and try to create some turnovers. I woke up this morning with the realization the game is right around the corner. We are at the point where we want to get it done. Our practice yesterday was one of the better ones we've had. Tropicana Field is a great field to play in. It's remarkable how they turned a baseball field into a football field. We have our hands full but we're looking forward to the challenge."

Battle of the Bands

The Battle of the Bands took place at the TradeWinds Beach Resort today. The bands went head-to-head in multiple events including a dance and a tug-of-war competition.
