Founded in 1904 and inspired by the legend of Pirate Jose Gaspar, Ye Mystic Krewe of Gasparilla is an organization dedicated to enriching the vitality and imagination of Tampa and its surrounding community. For over 120 years, Ye Mystic Krewe has hosted Tampa’s signature events, Gasparilla Pirate Fest and Children’s Gasparilla. The annual parades celebrate the pirate Krewe’s victorious invasion of the city of Tampa and feature costumed krewes, magical floats, bands, performers, and more as they march down Tampa’s beautiful Bayshore Boulevard. The events welcome nearly half a million pirate-themed revelers every year!
Through special appearances, Krewe members (of the YMKG-established Inter-Krewe Council) participate in events to promote the Bay Area community. Krewe members support various Tampa-based charities, regularly visiting hospitals, assisted living centers, and schools, engaging the community in the spirit and fun of Gasparilla events.
For nearly two decades, we’ve united the Tampa Bay community for an unforgettable Bowl Week celebration. The Union Home Mortgage Gasparilla Bowl’s mission is about more than a game. We aspire to host an annual celebration of the Gasparilla tradition through an exciting bowl week experience for the student-athletes, teams, fans and partners, while making the holidays brighter for the greater Tampa Bay area.
